POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Business Analyst has the overall responsibility to serve as the strategic interface with business partners for the purpose of business technology strategy development, solution discovery/design, service management, risk management and relationship management. They manage the full development lifecycle for applications and technologies within the Advanced Disposal organization. They proactively share knowledge of opportunities and risks, to build competitive advantage, and improve efficiency and effectiveness of applications and technologies. They serve a leading role in enabling the business to achieve their objectives through the effective use of technology.

 PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work as part of a larger team implementing and enhancing enterprise applications and platforms

  • Act as primary liaison between business partners, IT and outside vendors
  • Manage full development lifecycle for applications, technologies, enhancement requests and business process improvements
  • Collaborate with the Project Management Office (PMO) to identify and prioritize projects based on predefined criteria (e.g. return on investment, productivity, compliance)
  • Facilitate requirements gathering, hold design sessions, create business cases, use cases and/or user stories, create requirements documents, functional specifications and any other form of documentation used to express business needs
  • Work closely with developers and architects for solution and technical design
  • Perform and coordinate in-depth system testing, QA and user acceptance testing
  • Communicate regularly with decision makers, application owners, end users, vendors, etc. to create technology roadmaps and ensure strategic alignment
  • Participate in field research in pursuit of new solutions and to evaluate the applicability and usefulness of current solutions
  • Regularly review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems
  • Prepare recommendations or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in existing systems
  • Identify, screen and evaluate new solution opportunities to address unmet customer needs
  • Remain current with application and platform knowledge around enhancements and releases

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

  • Strong analytical skills, including understanding of business, system and operational processes
  • Understanding of data flows, system integration and reporting tools
  • Effective communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with every level of the organization from the CFO/CIO to technical teams to end users
  • Ability to think strategically, problem solve and plan accordingly
  • Professional attitude with ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Flexible and adaptable to learning and understanding new technologies
  • Proficiency in large scale implementations, upgrades, patches, and/or extension of existing applications
  • Strong organizational skills; capability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to multi-task with a variety of tasks and projects
  • Highly self-motivated and directed
  • Proven expertise and analytical experience in one or more of the application domains below:
  • Sales/Customer Service
  • Finance
  • Operations
  • Human Resources
  • Information Technology 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor's degree in the field of business administration, computer science, accounting, management information systems or other relevant field preferred
  • High School Diploma, GED and equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of three years of relevant work experience (business analysis, product management, development, project management) 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 Occasional travel may be required.

  • Ability to organize various office systems through adjusting, connecting, lifting, pulling, pushing, bending or folding for the purpose of proper records development and/or management
  • Ability to use a computer and related devices, such as a keyboard or mouse or other related equipment, throughout the workday while seated at a desk or workstation
