Job Description


Repair and preventive maintenance of company compactors in the field, new installations and container repair. Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on trash compactors and dumpsters. The preventive maintenance may involve welding, installation, assembly, disassembly, and/or structural repair and repair lubrication, electrical & hydraulic systems.


This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Preventive maintenance of compactors in the field
  • Install new compactors in assigned area.
  • Repair steel containers as needed will may include welding, fabricating, sanding, painting, etc. 


  • Strong knowledge in electrical, up to 480v 3 phase
  • Ability to diagnose electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficient in welding and metal fabrication.
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other related state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across various levels of the organization, with customers and external vendors.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals.
  • Effective communications skills with Operations, Sales, And Customers.


Education: High School diploma or GED.

Years of Experience: Two years of hydraulic maintenance, welding, and 3-phase electrical (up to 480 volts) experience.

Knowledge of Electronics, Welding, Metal Fabrication, Spray Painting a plus

Certifications: Valid commercial driver's license preferred. 


  • Mig & Stick Welders
  • Plasma Cutter
  • Airless Spray Paint System
  • Miltimeter, Welder.
  • Company information systems
  • Tools and equipment used in shop including but not limited to floor sweeper, fork lift, hydraulic hose, air powered tools, hand tools.
  • Two way radio.


  • In Shop and the Field
  • Able to work in confined spaces
  • Mechanics are exposed to the following conditions:
    • Slippery floors due to oil and grease spills.
    • Cramped conditions under trucks and in truck compartments.
    • Petroleum products and solvents.
    • Hot temperatures from engines and coolant systems.
    • Vibration from powered hand tools.
  • Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • May be exposed to solvents and chemicals, and refuse in trucks.
  • Other risks associated with working around machines, tools and trucks. 


  • Stand, bending, lifting
  • Ability to operate trucks and other equipment used as needed.
  • Ability to organize various office systems through adjusting, connecting, lifting, pulling, pushing, bending or folding for the purpose of proper records development and/or management.
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, or stand for long periods of time. In addition, individuals must be able to reach above shoulders and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
