Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Assist landfill personnel in a variety of assignments including treatment plant operating, maintenance, and monitoring of the landfill gas extraction systems, leachate collection systems, and other systems at the landfill.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

 

  • Primary contact for landfill personnel in regards to leachate treatment plant and gas extraction system including operating and maintenance
  • Recommend and implement enhancements and troubleshooting issues with various on site systems including landfill gas, leachate collection and conveyance, environmental monitoring and storm water management
  • Record, monitor and evaluate data directed related to the on site systems, landfill gas, leachate and storm water
  • Uses current regulation knowledge to make recommendations to ensure compliance with environmental regulations
  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot the monitoring equipment as needed
  • Assist with monitoring field installation and testing. Review and evaluate operational efficiency of equipment and systems at various facilities

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of all regulatory agencies that affect the business
  • Strong mechanical background related to pumps and piping
  • Treatment Plant experience, process or design a plus

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education: High School diploma or GED required.Minimum 2-year Associates Degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering Technology or other environmental related field a plus

Years of Experience: One (1) year of experience with operating Treatment Plants with strong maintenance and mechanical background. Previous experience with LFG and/or leachate systems preferred

Certifications: None

 

 

 

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE USED:

 

  • Usual office equipment including phone, fax, computer and calculator
  • MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Use hands tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers
  • Machines including but not limited to pH meter and gas detecting equipment
  • Personal protective equipment

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

  • Exposure to physical occupational risks such as (cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals)
  • Exposure to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements

 

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

  • Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 30 pounds on occasion
  • Ability to organize various office systems through adjusting, connecting, lifting, pulling, pushing, bending or folding for the purpose of proper records development and/or management
  • Ability to use a computer and related devices, such as a keyboard or mouse or other related equipment, throughout the workday while seated at a desk or workstation
  • Expected to lift up to 40 pounds, rarely
